New Volunteer Opportunities for 2024

Group 40@2x

Group 41

The Blue Water Task Force (BWTF) is our volunteer-run, water testing, education and advocacy program. Through this program, we educate our community and provide valuable water quality information. Our dedicated volunteers collect samples from over 20 sites in beach, canal and bay locations every Thursday throughout the year and process them at our BWTF lab in Miami Beach.

We are looking to grow our pool of water collector volunteers with a special focus on the Key Biscayne area. If you are interested, please email BWTF@miami.surfrider.org.

Group 42@2x

Our SEAS Program is a 3-part, Surfrider Miami funded program that’s a path to advocacy and opportunity for our Miami-Dade community. We teach swimming as the "gateway skill", as we know the ability to swim and feel comfortable in the water opens up amazing opportunities for study, employment, sport, leisure and advocacy.

We are in search of a passionate, dedicated volunteer who can help grow the SEAS program throughout Miami-Dade. If you are interested, please email mdcliaison@miami.surfrider.org.

Beach cleanups can reduce litter, protect our ocean and raise awareness about pollution!

We are currently in search of a Beach Cleanup Co-Lead to assist our Beach Guru with cleanups in North & Mid Beach as well as on the mainland. Responsibilities will include organizing and managing cleanups independently and with our broader team.

If you’d like to help keep our beaches and coastline clean, please email chair@miami.surfrider.org.

Group 44

Our Ocean Friendly Restaurants (OFR) program tackles plastic pollution at its source - one restaurant and one customer at a time! We work to increase consumer awareness to drive behavior change and create a scalable impact.

We are currently in search of an Ocean Friendly Restaurants (OFR) Lead to promote the program to Miami restaurants, certify restaurants through site visits, manage restaurant promotion, and more!

If you want to help us stop plastic at the source, please email chair@miami.surfrider.org.

Rise Above Plastics (RAP) Program
We are looking for a Rise Above Plastics (RAP) Lead to help us raise awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution, by advocating for a reduction of single-use plastics and the recycling of all plastics and work alongside other RAP volunteers to eliminate the impacts of plastics in the marine environment. If you want to help us
stop plastic at the source, please email chair@miami.surfrider.org.

General Legislative Lead
As we enter the 2024 Legislative Session, we are in need of a General Legislative Lead to keep their pulse on relevant legislation and opportunities to speak in front of the commission at both City and County levels, as well as motivate our followers and volunteers. If you or someone you know would be a great candidate, please email chair@miami.surfrider.org today!
