Community Dune Restoration and Beach Clean Up with Temple Beth Sholom’s Mitzvah Day

WHO:
Volunteers from Temple Beth Sholom and the community at large - all volunteers age 8 & up are welcome
ACTIVITY:
Led by Surfrider Foundation volunteer leaders, participants will work of removal of invasive plants to prepare the dune for spring planting of native species. Healthy beach dunes are a critical part of our coastal community's resilience.
Participants will also perform a beach clean up in the area to remove plastic litter and bring awareness to the ’throwaway consumerism’ problem.
Surfrider will provide all necessary tools, supplies, instruction, cold water & snacks
WHAT TO BRING:
- refillable water bottle - we will have plenty of cold water refills but NO single use water bottles available
- loose comfortable clothes that double as sun protection - hats are recommended too
- sunscreen - we will have back-up supply
- solid shoes
- wear bathing suit & bring towel if you plan on swimming after event
