Village of Bal Harbour Plastics Ordinance

Village of Bal Harbour Plastics Ordinance

The goal is to have the village of Bal Harbour pass a comprehensive single use plastics ordinance which will help keep single use plastic straws from entering our marine environment.

In April of 2019, Surfrider Foundation Miami Chapter activists began advocating for a robust plastic ordinance in the village of Bal Harbour. The reduction of plastic straws helps to decrease the need for fossil fuels, which are used for these wasteful and lightweight single use plastics which often end up as litter in our marine environments.

On April 18, 2019, the city voted to pass the ordinance!
