The Village of Pinecrest, Florida is exploring a single use plastic straw ordinance. If implemented, single use plastic straws will be eliminated from this community.
In the summer of 2018, our Miami Chapter worked closely with elected officials in Pinecrest to suggest a plastic straw ordinance in Village of Pinecrest. The reduction of plastic straws helps to decrease the need for fossil fuels, which are used for these wasteful and lightweight single use plastics which often end up as litter in our marine environments. The Village of Pinecrest will have a 2nd reading for their proposed Straw Ordinance on October 9th. Make 2018, the year we say goodbye to plastic straws! VICTORY! On October 9th, the Village of Pinecrest Mayor and Commissioners voted to pass a single use plastic straw ordinance in the Village.
