City of Sunny Isles Beach Polystyrene Ordinance in Public Parks, Offices and Beaches
Polystyrene foam food-ware is a major source of litter and one of the top items we find on our regular beach cleanups. The Miami Chapter seeks to ban polystyrene foam food-ware on all City of Isles Beach public property.
The Florida Legislature has taken away the ability of cities and counties to ban polystyrene in all areas except municipal property. That's why our Miami Chapter is working with the City of Sunny Isles Beach to ban polystyrene foam food-ware on all city property. This is a first, but important step to take in reducing plastic pollution.
On March 18th the City of Sunny Isles Beach Commission agreed to prohibit polystyrene foam food-ware on all city Property!
