Our RAP Program helps us raise awareness in our community about the dangers of plastic pollution, by advocating for a reduction of single-use plastics and the recycling of all plastics, while also being an integral part of all Zero Waste Miami initiatives. If you would like to help us eliminate the detrimental impacts of plastics in our waterways, our beautiful marine environment and the community at large, consider volunteering for us as a Rise Above Plastics (RAP) Lead. The Miami Beach Composting Bin Program is a program for Miami Beach residents whereby they can register to obtain a free compost bin. It is funded in part by a grant from the City of Miami Beach and benefits residents, the local and global community. Through the program, yard and food waste can be converted into a nutrient rich fertilizer for the garden saving resident money in tipping and fertilizer costs with the added benefit of keeping harmful synthetic fertilizers out of our vulnerable bay and reducing emissions while improving water quality. Are you interested to lead or co-lead this program for us, then please email chair@miami.surfrider.org.
