On Tuesday, October 13, Surfrider Miami joined fellow ocean advocates at the 9th Miami Climate Leaders Happy Hour at The Palms Hotel and Spa in Miami Beach for an evening of community, connection, and celebration. The event, organized by The Ikigai Partnership, brought together organizations and individuals dedicated to protecting Miami’s coast and waterways.
The highlight of the evening was the recognition of Miami Beach’s Coastal Guardians, a tribute to the people and organizations showing up for the ocean every day. Surfrider Miami’s own Christi and Amanda were among those honored alongside Adam from Blue Scholars Initiative, Rodrigo from Plastic Fisherman, and Sophie and Jennifer from Clean Miami Beach.
The evening was a powerful reminder of the collective effort behind Miami’s coastal conservation community. From water quality monitoring and beach cleanups to dune restoration and ocean advocacy, the organizations gathered represent years of hands-on work to protect the places we love.
