October 2025 - Florida Climate Week

On Saturday, October 11, Surfrider Miami joined the statewide momentum of Florida Climate Week with a hands-on dune restoration event at the 6th to 7th Street Dunes in Miami Beach. From early morning through mid-day, volunteers came together to take climate action where it counts, right at the shoreline.

Throughout the morning, we removed invasive plants, picked up litter, and made space for native vegetation to thrive. These plants are essential to a healthy dune system that protects our coast from flooding, storm surge, and erosion. While the work was physical, the energy was high and the sense of purpose was strong.

No experience was needed. Just a willingness to get your hands in the sand and help strengthen our coastline. Together, we showed how local action can support resilience and climate adaptation at a community level.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out, contributed their time, and helped restore a critical part of Miami’s coastal ecosystem. Events like these show that climate action does not always start with policy. It starts with people.

Stay connected for future restoration days and more ways to take action with Surfrider Miami.
