Hand Across the Sand

May 21 @ 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Free

Join Us for Hands Across the Sand 2022!

Say YES to Clean, Renewable Energy!
Say NO to new offshore drilling leases!
At noon on May 21st, people on beaches all over the nation will join Hands Across the Sand, an annual event where participants form a line in the sand, standing together in solidarity against offshore oil drilling. Join Oceana (usa.oceana.org), the Urban Paradise Guild (http://urbanparadiseguild.org), Surfrider Foundation Miami (Miami.surfrider.org) and our community partners on Miami Beach for this important annual event where we take a stand to protect our oceans, marine wildlife, and coastal communities.

Despite continuing oil spill disasters and the climate change emergency, U.S. coastlines are still threatened by new oil and gas development. In the coming weeks, the Department of Interior is expected to release a proposed 5-Year Offshore Drilling Program, which may include new oil and gas lease sales off U.S. coastlines. That is why we are asking Congress to pass legislation to permanently protect our coasts from dirty and dangerous offshore drilling.
When: Saturday May 21, 2022, 11:00 to 12:30
Where: Miami Beach at 5th Street
We strongly encourage carpooling, biking, walking, and public transportation.
